We have an AIO (All-in-one) desktop at work that needed to be upgraded to Windows 10 Pro but since it has data on it, we didn't want to erase the machine to do a fresh Windows 10 Pro install. We were able to do the upgrade without having to wipe the machine and here's how that was done:

You'll need a Microsoft Volume License Service Center (VLSC) account and valid VLSC product key

  • Turn on Windows 10 Home machine
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change Product Keys
  • Turn on Airplane Mode
  • Enter the generic Windows 10 Pro VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T product key
  • Reboot the computer after it does the update
  • Turn off Airplane mode
  • Change the product key to your VLSC product key.
